Chatix/Safety

Your safety, in plain English.

Anonymous doesn't mean unprotected. Here's exactly how we keep Chatix a place where conversations can be honest without anyone feeling unsafe.

01 What you can do

Every Chatix user has a small toolbox of one-tap actions baked into every conversation. None of them require an account, an email, or a 30-step support ticket.

01
Block
Silent, irreversible. The other person is never notified — they just stop seeing you.
02
Report
Reaches a human moderator in <5 minutes with the last 20 messages attached.
03
Mute
Stops notifications without ending the chat — useful if someone is a slow texter.
04
Leave
End the chat any time. No "are you sure" friction.
One tap is enough
We deliberately don't ask you to "confirm" a block. If you have to choose, you've already decided.

02 How moderation actually works

Moderation on Chatix is a partnership between AI and human moderators on call 24/7. The combination matters: our AI catches the obvious stuff at scale and in real time, humans handle the cases that need judgment. AI screens first, a person makes the call — never the other way around.

The AI layer
The human layer

Every report routes to a real person — never an inbox. Our moderators work in three regional shifts so there's always coverage. The average response time for a report is 2 minutes 14 seconds. The slowest 5% still resolve in under 15 minutes.

03 What you should never share

Anonymous chat works because identities stay separate. The most common safety incidents happen the moment someone gives up information that connects their chat identity to their real life.

OK
Your handle, vibe, and mood
What you do for fun — books, music, games
Your country, timezone, language
What's on your mind — that's the point
Not OK
Phone numbers or email addresses
Home or work address
Your real name or workplace
Payment info, gift card codes, crypto
If someone is pressuring you
They're not interested in you — they're running a script. Block, report, and walk away. We'll handle the rest.

04 Under-18s aren't welcome

Chatix is 18+. Signup is age-gated, IPs from accounts that are flagged as underage are blocked, and we run an active under-age detection program based on language patterns and reported accounts. If you encounter someone who you believe is a minor, use the "Underage user" report category — these go to the top of the queue.

05 If you or someone is in crisis

Chatix isn't a crisis service. If a conversation turns toward self-harm, abuse, or immediate danger, please connect the person to a real resource. We surface a banner with local helpline numbers when our filters detect these signals.

United States
Call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
United Kingdom
Samaritans — 116 123, free and 24/7.
France
3114 — Numéro national de prévention du suicide.
Other countries
Find a local helpline at findahelpline.com, an international directory covering 130+ countries.

06 Talk to our safety team

For anything urgent, write to [email protected]. A real person reads every email and responds within an hour. If it's a legal request, route it to [email protected].
