Privacy Policy
Chatix is a free, anonymous chat platform, and privacy isn't a feature we bolted on — it's the entire point. This policy explains, in plain English, what we collect, what we don't, why a few third-party tools (like advertising) touch your browser, and the choices you have. By using Chatix you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
We designed Chatix to work without an account, so there's very little to collect. Specifically:
- No registration data. We don't ask for your real name, email address, or phone number to use the chat.
- Session details you provide. The handle, age range, gender, and country you enter to start chatting. These are tied to a temporary session, not a permanent profile.
- Message content, briefly. Messages pass through our servers so we can deliver them and run safety filters. They are deleted within 24 hours of a conversation ending (see Data retention).
- Technical data. Like nearly every website, our servers and providers automatically receive your IP address, browser type, device type, and approximate (city-level) location for security, abuse prevention, and basic analytics.
- Cookies & ad identifiers. Set by us and by third-party partners — described in Cookies and Advertising below.
2. How we use information
We use the limited data above only to:
- Deliver messages and connect you with other people in chat.
- Keep Chatix safe — detect spam, bots, harassment, underage accounts, and abuse, and act on reports.
- Maintain, secure, and improve the service.
- Show advertising on our public pages and measure its performance.
- Comply with the law and respond to valid legal requests.
We do not sell your personal information, and we never share the content of your conversations with advertisers.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. Chatix uses a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep your session working and to remember basic preferences. Our advertising and analytics partners also set cookies. You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can read the full breakdown on our Cookie Policy page.
4. Advertising and Google AdSense
Chatix is free, and a small number of ads on our public pages help keep it that way. We work with third-party vendors, including Google, to serve these ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to Chatix and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU).
For more information about how Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps, see Google's Privacy & Terms. Ads never appear inside a conversation, and advertisers never receive your chat content.
5. Data retention
We keep as little as possible, for as short a time as possible. Chat messages are stored only while a conversation is active and are permanently deleted within 24 hours after both people leave. Security and abuse logs (such as IP addresses tied to a ban) are kept only as long as needed to protect the community. We have no permanent profile of you to retain.
6. How we share information
We share limited information only with:
- Service providers who host our servers, deliver messages, and serve ads, under contracts that limit how they use the data.
- Law enforcement, when we receive a legally valid request, or where we believe it is necessary to prevent serious harm.
We never sell personal data, and we never trade it to data brokers.
7. Your rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (including personalized advertising). Because Chatix is anonymous and stores almost nothing, there is usually little to act on — but you can still exercise these rights by emailing [email protected]. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them.
8. Children
Chatix is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an underage person is using Chatix, we remove the account and delete associated data. See our Safety page for how under-18 detection works.
